Salary:             Annual salary of $85,000

Hours:             40 hours per week / 5 days per week (full-time; permanent)

Vacation:        4% of salary

 

Requirements:

 

• Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study PLUS a university degree in veterinary medicine;
• Completion of national veterinary certification examinations;
• British Columbia license to practice veterinary medicine; and
• Several years of experience in veterinary medicine.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Examine and treat animals by appointment and on a first-come, first-serve basis;
• Prioritize traumatic injuries and serious illnesses to ensure that all animals receive time-sensitive care;
• Cultivate positive relationships with customers and their animals through regular communication and excellent record-keeping;
• Treat and prevent an array of animal diseases and illnesses;
• Conduct tests and observations to provide a proper diagnosis;
• Prescribe necessary medications;
• Administer vaccines to prevent common diseases, education clients on the importance of vaccinations, flea and tick treatments, dental care, and other aspects of preventative care;
• Perform operations (spay, neuter, abdominal blockages, etc.) and provide therapy or other treatments to heal animal injury, and assist with other surgeries as needed; and
• Assist in the training of new RVTs, veterinary assistants, and other members of the support staff.
