Job Duties
- Conducting safety checks and minor maintenance on trucks
- Driving cargo to its destination, monitoring traffic and road conditions
- Obeying road safety and transportation laws
- Run ratchet straps and chains and binders to secure load to trailer.
- Manage routes and routines so they proceed in the most efficient way possible.
- Maintaining logbooks and delivery paperwork
- Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals and brakes
- Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
- Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
- Direct customer queries to management
- Check vehicles and troubleshoot and maintain vehicles.
- Find ways to conserve resources, including fuel, to benefit the business.
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment, and loading and unloading of cargo
Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required
No experience is required, will train
- Dependable, hardworking, punctual, and reliable
- AZ license is preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English is essential.
