Job Summary:
We're seeking a highly versatile, hands-on Business & Growth Specialist who can wear multiple hats in our early-stage startup. You'll help shape our business strategy, prepare professional materials to attract partners/investors/taskers/users, handle legal foundations, create compelling marketing content (including product videos), understand and engage customers, and contribute to full-stack development improvements. This is a rare opportunity to join a Saskatoon-based startup at the ground level with significant ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Planning & Strategy — Research, write, and update comprehensive business plans, financial projections, go-to-market strategies, and growth roadmaps focused on the Saskatchewan/local task services market.
- Investor & Partner Materials — Create professional business pitch decks, executive summaries, one-pagers, and presentation materials to raise funding, attract partners, or onboard key stakeholders.
- Legal & Compliance Documents — Draft/review essential startup legal documents (terms of service, privacy policy, user agreements, contractor/tasker agreements, NDAs, etc.) — working with lawyers as needed but handling initial versions.
- Marketing & Fundraising Content — Produce high-quality product sample/demo videos, promotional videos, explainer clips, and social media content to showcase the platform, attract users/taskers, and support fundraising efforts.
- Customer Understanding & Management — Conduct customer research (task givers and taskers), handle customer inquiries/support, gather feedback, improve user experience, and build community trust in Saskatchewan.
- Technical/Full-Stack Development — Perform full-stack development tasks (frontend + backend) to fix bugs, implement features, improve UI/UX, integrate tools, or enhance the platform (current tech stack may include web/mobile elements — experience with JavaScript/React/Node.js or similar is ideal).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience writing business plans, pitch decks, and startup fundraising materials (portfolio/examples required).
- Strong understanding of legal documents for online platforms/marketplaces (terms, privacy, user agreements).
- Video production/editing skills — ability to create professional product demo/marketing videos (tools like CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or similar).
- Excellent customer service & communication skills — empathy for users, ability to handle inquiries and feedback.
- Full-stack development experience (HTML/CSS/JS, React/Vue, Node.js/Python, databases, APIs) — able to contribute code directly.
- Startup mindset: Self-starter, adaptable, comfortable in ambiguous/fast-paced environments.
- Knowledge of or interest in local services marketplaces (TaskRabbit-style platforms) is a big plus.
- Located in or very familiar with Saskatoon/Saskatchewan market (local insights are valuable).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience raising funds or pitching to investors.
- Background in gig economy, on-demand services, or local marketplaces.
- Video marketing/portfolio (show us your work!).
- Familiarity with Canadian business/legal requirements.
