Job Description Indus Roofing Ltd. is currently recruiting skilled Roofer to fill 01 full-time vacancy in the lower mainland with base at 2958 164 Street Surrey BC Canada V3Z 9X4. The position of "Roofer" is a skilled labour role, in which the Roofer works within a team, reporting to the site foreman to lay a variety of roofs on residential and commercial buildings.
Job duties
• Install, repair or replace conventional 2 ply torch-on, 3 ply torch-on, (built up roofing) systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
• Install partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces, using chalk lines, gauges on shingling hatchets, or lines
• Install, repair or replace single ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphalt compositions
• Use of hand tools and power tools for installation
• Repair or replacement of all roofing systems
• Providing training to more junior level, less experienced workers
• Set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs
• Apply waterproof coatings to concrete
• Inspect work sites to determine condition or necessary repairs
• Estimate materials and labor required to complete roofing jobs
Qualifications required
• Completion of secondary school diploma is required
• 2 to 3 years of experience in trade is required OR completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program OR Journeyman/woman certificate OR Journeyman/woman certificate equivalent
• Intermediate English skills
Other Skills and Knowledge
• Ability to work on height and communicate with others
• Ability to install all kinds of buildup roofing systems (including trusses)
• Ability to instruct labourers, helpers and new workers
• Ability to learn and obey our extensive company safety policy
Benefits As per BC Employment standards act, 4% vacation pay of the gross salary will be paid each pay period with 10 days of unpaid vacation or option to choose 10 days of paid vacation with no vacation pay on each pay period
