Job Description

J&S FRESH MEAT WHOLESALE INC. is seeking an experienced and highly organized Financial Manager to oversee the company's financial operations, budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the company's financial activities and will work closely with management and other departments to support effective financial management and business decision-making.

This is an on-site position, and all duties must be performed at the company's physical business location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities

    • Coordinate the organization’s financial operations and budget activities to optimize financial performance, ensure effective allocation of financial resources, and support the company’s overall business objectives.

    • Evaluate daily financial operations by reviewing financial activities, identifying operational or financial issues, and ensuring that financial processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

    • Plan and control budgets and expenditures, monitor actual spending against approved budgets, identify significant variances, and implement appropriate cost-control measures.

    • Plan and organize daily financial operations, including accounting activities, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow monitoring, payroll administration, and other related financial functions.

    • Establish and implement financial policies and procedures to improve financial management, strengthen internal controls, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure consistent financial practices across the organization.

    • Design and manage investment strategies by assessing financial objectives, reviewing investment opportunities and risks, and monitoring investment performance to support the organization’s financial goals.

    • Monitor financial control systems to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information, identify discrepancies or control weaknesses, and implement improvements when necessary.

    • Manage contracts by reviewing financial terms and obligations, monitoring contract-related expenditures and payments, maintaining appropriate documentation, and ensuring contractual financial requirements are properly followed.

    • Oversee the collection and analysis of financial data, including revenues, expenses, budgets, cash flow, payroll costs, and other financial information, to evaluate financial performance and support management decision-making.

    • Oversee the preparation of financial and management reports, ensuring reports are accurate, complete, and prepared within required timelines for management review and business planning.

    • Oversee payroll administration, including reviewing payroll information, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining appropriate payroll records, and coordinating the resolution of payroll discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or financial management.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and financial management skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, financial planning, and internal audit practices.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, MS Access, MS Office, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint for financial management, reporting, documentation, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage a large workload and caseload, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in financial records, reports, and related documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Dependable, responsible, and committed to maintaining high professional standards and ethical practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to work effectively with management, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.

Work Arrangement

This is an on-site position. Work must be completed at the physical business location. There is no option to work remotely.
