We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to develop, maintain, integrate, and enhance our internal software applications and ERP systems. This is a hands-on development position requiring strong full-stack programming skills, practical experience with ERP customization and system integration, and the ability to coordinate software development activities with junior developers and external technical resources.
Position Summary
The Software Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, modifying, integrating, and maintaining software applications and ERP-related systems that support the company’s business operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal users to understand application and workflow requirements, identify opportunities for software improvement, automation, and process efficiency, and translate operational needs into practical software solutions. The position will also support the implementation of ERP-enabled workflows and provide technical guidance and user training to help employees use newly developed or modified system functions effectively.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, write, modify, integrate, and test software code for internal business applications, ERP-related systems, e-commerce applications, and other web-based solutions.
- Develop and maintain full-stack applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js, JavaScript, Python, XML, JSON, and related technologies.
- Develop, customize, maintain, and enhance ERP modules, backend functions, workflows, frontend views, and existing software applications as operational requirements evolve.
- Collect, analyze, and document user and operational requirements and translate them into logical and physical software specifications, application features, system enhancements, and technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations using JSON and other applicable data formats to connect ERP systems, internal applications, databases, e-commerce platforms, and third-party systems.
- Test and troubleshoot software applications, develop and maintain automated testing procedures, identify defects and technical issues, implement corrections, and improve system functionality, performance, usability, and workflow automation.
- Participate in application design and technical planning for new software features, modules, integrations, and system enhancements, and use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, debugging, and technical documentation.
- Communicate technical issues, development processes, and proposed software solutions to internal users, management, developers, consultants, vendors, and other external technical resources.
- Research and evaluate software products, development tools, frameworks, libraries, and third-party applications, and prepare technical reports, manuals, specifications, and other documentation relating to software development, operation, maintenance, testing, modifications, and system integrations.
- Work with internal users to review and improve existing business workflows, incorporate more efficient processes into ERP and related software solutions, and provide practical training and guidance to employees on the effective use of newly implemented or modified system functions.
- Review software code, recommend improvements, maintain source-code repositories and development workflows using GitHub and appropriate version-control practices, and provide technical guidance, code reviews, and hands-on development training to junior developers and co-op students.
Skills and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or another discipline with a significant programming component, or completion of a college program in computer science or a related field.
- 2 years to less than 3 years of professional experience working as a Software Developer or in a closely related software development role.
- Strong computer and technology knowledge, including Unix, Linux, DevOps, Machine Learning, C, C++, Java, C#, .NET, SQL, HTML, TypeScript, Python, Object-Oriented Programming, React.js, React Native, Android Studio, XML technologies including XSL, XSD and DTD, database management, web service design, API development and integration, Git, Postman, software development, and software quality assurance.
- Experience with ERP application development, module customization, workflow development, process automation, system integration, and maintenance of ERP-related applications.
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is considered a significant asset for communication with internal stakeholders across the group.
- Experience developing or supporting scalable business applications in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, retail, or related industries is considered an asset.
